The whole structure is made solely of steel 6mm round bar, welded together on site. The treads are solid wellingtonia, cut into shape with a chainsaw. The repeated use triangles and pyramids of metal make this structure immensely strong and rigid despite looking like it might float away.
It complies to modern British building regulations for a private principal staircase.
