sweet chestnut trunk table

The table top is one piece of wood; a cross section of a trunk from a sweet chestnut tree, treated with lots of linseed oil to stop it splitting. The legs are not attached except by gravity. They are made of a piece of 40mm round bar, forged to a point, punched through a slit in some 50mm square bar when white hot. The table is 1 metre diameter.
