resin treads staircase

resin treads staircase

This spiral staircase is the first of its kind. The treads are made of a steel border with copper and brass set inside a glass clear resin casting. The banisters are 16mm threaded bar crushed under a power hammer and the banister rail is a continuous length of twisted hexagon bar. The treads rise to 2.4m and the total height is 3.4m. It is 1.6m in diameter.

The staircase is easily taken down and re-assembled as it all bolts together using stainless steel dome nuts. This means very quick installation time.

The engineering construction is also unique. There are struts emanating from a central point attached to a very, very heavy base. This weight is what allows the staircase to be freestanding. This construction also means that the central pole can be very thin; only 16mm.

It complies to modern British building regulations for a private spiral staircase to more than one room.
